PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:
Saturday, January 11, 2025 - Central hosted the Girl’s Basketball PAWS Shootout. It was a great day of basketball and included nine of the top programs in state for 1A, 2A, and 3A.
Saturday, January 11, 2025 - The 19th Annual Black Tie Talent Show hosted by the Sons of the American Legion in Aviston. Our Central students both past and present made up seven of the ten contestants, along with past winner Shelby Peters.
Our goal of learning as much as we can about AI (Artificial Intelligence) is continuing with a member from each department attending a day long workshop with Joe Fatheree. The purpose of the workshop is to dive into more practical uses of the technology in the classroom. We are currently in the process of working out a date
E-Learning - to the surprise of most, we had to participate in two e-learning days during the first week back. Kudos to all of our staff for making the adjustments to their plans and ensuring all of our students received the materials and work they needed. Also, kudos to our students for checking in and making the most of the days.
Smart Pass - implementation of the new digital hall pass has gone as expected and we have a number of the finer details to work out amongst ourselves as well as with our service rep. Students and teachers are getting more comfortable with it every day.
Freshman Information Night - Wednesday, January 15, 2025, it was truly a great night with 150 families walking through our doors. I was super proud of our entire staff, from the tour guides to the sports/extracurricular tables, everyone involved did an amazing job. Central was on full display and it hasn’t looked better!
Central Shadowing Program - after discussions with our staff as well as the grade school superintendents, we decided to change things up a bit. The past few years have put a lot of stress and extra work on all of the teachers involved, grade schools and us. Plus, I’m not sure we always provided the best experience, for example a shadow student may end up sitting with a student that has three tests/quizzes that day, that’s hardly exciting! This year students from the grade schools will come in groups and stay with that group throughout the day. They will rotate through the daily schedule giving them the opportunity to hear about every department we have here at Central. Also, at the end of the day during advisory, students will have the opportunity to meet with coaches and sponsors based on the activities that they signed up for at the information night.
The board adjourned the meeting on a motion by Jeff, second by Tim at 7:56PM. Roll call vote: Aye – Mary Lou Voss, Laura Jansen, Kori Voss, Tanya Kampwerth, Jeff Kampwerth, Tim Richter, Amy Kruse. Nay – None
