The Illinois School Code requires that we hold an annual review of our Crisis Management Plan and conduct safety drills with local law enforcement and emergency units. The Crisis Management Team will meet on Wednesday, September 23rd to conduct a debrief of our recent emergency drills. (Mrs. Voss serves as the Board of Education representative on this team.) As a heads up about our safety protocols, Central High School takes a layered threat mitigation approach to prevention, safety and security. Those layers are: connection, support and prevention; physical safety measures and daily procedures; community partners; and emergency procedures and readiness. We also recently purchased the CrisisGo App and it was used during our emergency drills on August 29th.
As part of Illinois School Code, we are required to present an itemized salary compensation report for all certified employees.

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:
August 22 - Senior Sunrise, thank you to Karrie Kujawa for organizing the morning and providing the first of many memories for our seniors!
Mara Koerkenmeier organized another Pop Up Thrift Store on August 27th. There are an array of guys and gals sizes and styles in fall/winter clothes and Homecoming attire, as well as other miscellaneous items. Money collected is used to restock our Cougar Closet with hygiene and household products. These pop up thrift stores have become very popular with our students.
August 29th was our first SIP day of the year and the staff spent the afternoon completing CPR and AED training, which was provided by our very own Stacey Boruff.
Also, on August 29th, during the morning, we conducted all of our safety drills with our students and staff (Fire Drill, Severe Weather Drill, Intruder Drill and Evacuation Drill). All staff utilized the Crisis Go app for attendance purposes. Local fire and police departments were also here to help and monitor the drills.
Freshmen Student Council representatives for 2025-2026: Vance Becker, Rylan Bernardini, Grant Hilmes, Peyton Korte, Aubrey Timmermann, and Kendyl Voss.
Our Central rock band, “Identity” performed for the student body during advisory on September 5th as a practice before their performance at Turf on Saturday, September 6th. A huge thank you to Brodie Ordaz for directing this group.
Milk Bowl 2025 is in the books and what a great night it was with a 46-0 victory! Congratulations to everyone involved in the football family! Hosting the Milk Bowl isn’t easy and it takes an army to make it happen. First of all, a huge thank you to Neil Hamon for securing all the help and making it run smoothly. And to all of our volunteers (Rachel Faust, Lauren Langhauser, Jamie Hewlett, Angie Kohlbrecher, Chris Solis, Jeff Jacobs, Dusty Barr, Kory Peppenhorst, Greg Meyer, Jeremy Shubert, Greg Kruse, Kevin Crask, Stan Eagleson, Kurt Peters and Nathan Rueter) Of course a big thanks goes to all PAWS members for running the concessions and to our maintenance staff for all the prep work and cleaning up afterwards.
