Dr. Ketchum recognized CJ Langenhorst, Riley Gebke and Reaghan Tebbe for scoring in the top 2.5% of all test takers (PSAT/NMSQT) who identify as a student from a rural area or small town. They were also recognized by the College Board National Recognition Program. Riley is involved in volleyball and numerous clubs at Central. After graduation, she plans to attend a 4-year university to major in biomedical engineering. CJ is involved in numerous clubs as well as being a Co-Founder of the Debate Club. CJ plans to attend a 4-year university to major in economics and political science. Reaghan has been involved with basketball and many clubs. She plans to attend a 4-year university to major in Occupational Therapy.
Dr. Foutch reminded the Board members to fill out your Statement of Economic Interest Form online.
The elementary districts administered the PSAT Test to 8th graders during the 1st week of December. We will use the results of this assessment for class placement and also to measure longitudinal academic growth of our students.
The annual 8th Grade Information Night will be held on January 12th. We plan on having over twenty-five groups, clubs, organizations, and athletic teams represented at the event and we will also conduct tours of the building to conclude the evening.
Dr. Foutch presented some enrollment projections. He presented the expected number of students who could potentially be attending Central over the next several years. After this year’s 8th grade class, there are mostly classes of around 200 or less (until you get down to the 1st grade class). If we continue to enroll roughly 75-80% of each graduating class, our school district should not exceed 650 students for the next several years. For example, if 75% of the 5th – 8th grade classes enroll at Central, then our student population would be approximately 605 students. Even if 80% of the students enroll at Central, our student population would only be 645 students in 5 years.
On Wednesday, January 12th, we conducted our public bid opening for the Science Lab Remodel and West Wing Flooring project. Our lowest responsible bidder on the project was Millennium Construction, with a bid amount of $530,000. This bid was well below the estimate from FGM. If you recall, we will be using $407,000 of ESSER funds for this project and we also received an additional $50,000 in School Maintenance grant funds. Although the entire project will not be covered with stimulus and grant funds, we have sufficient reserves in our O & M fund to cover the remaining expenses. A motion to approve Millenium Construction for the Science Lab Remodel and West Wing Flooring project for $530,000 was made by Tim, second by Amy. Roll call vote: Aye –Mike Nettemeier, Kori Voss, Mary Lou Voss, Amy Kruse, Tanya Kampwerth, Tim Richter, Jeff Kampwerth. Nay – None
On Tuesday, January 11th, we also conducted our public bid opening for the asbestos abatement project. Our lowest responsible bidder on the project was Spray Services, with a bid amount of $38,133.60. Spray is a reputable and respected company and their bid was below the consultant’s estimate. A motion to approve Spray Services for the asbestos abatement project for $38,133.60 was made by Mary Lou, second by Amy. Roll call vote: Aye –Mike Nettemeier, Kori Voss, Mary Lou Voss, Amy Kruse, Tanya Kampwerth, Tim Richter, Jeff Kampwerth. Nay – None

When speaking to our foods instructor, Mrs. Langhauser, she expressed how overjoyed she would be if we would be able to install stainless countertops as that is the “ideal” material for a foods lab with novice chefs. A motion to approve Sudholt Sheet Metal to install countertops in the Foods Lab for $12,302 was made by Tim, second by Kori. Roll call vote: Aye –Mike Nettemeier, Kori Voss, Mary Lou Voss, Amy Kruse, Tanya Kampwerth, Tim Richter, Jeff Kampwerth. Nay – Non
