Dr. Foutch discussed with the BOE the possibility of transitioning the Bowling Club into a school-sponsored sport.  Also discussed was the proposal of starting a wrestling club.

We have had an increased amount of interest in our CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) program, which is a very good thing.  The only issue is that our current instructor, Stacey Boruff, is only allowed to supervise 8 students per semester for the clinical portion of the program.  This limitation will force our district to turn 6 students away from being able to take the coursework.  Stacey stated that a possible fix would be to employ another individual for clinical supervision only.  This individual would observe students for their clinical hours only, which would equal 80 hours of work over the spring semester.  The pay for this position would be somewhere between $20 - $25 an hour for a total cost of $1600 - $2000 per year, and the individual would need to be a Registered Nurse.

A motion to approve a resolution to lower the tax rate by a minimum of .08 in the Bond and Interest Fund levy upon passage of the county school facility and resources occupation tax was made by Mary Lou, second by Kori.   Roll call vote: Aye –Mike Nettemeier, Mary Lou Voss, Kori Voss, Amy Kruse, Tanya Kampwerth, Tim Richter.  Nay – None

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:

FFA Week was February 21-24. Students participated in fun dress up activities each day, challenged with FFA trivia, and all FFA students participated in activities with special guest and FFA State Vice President, Derek Sample. A HUGE thanks to Harley and Lexis for arranging the week, as well as getting our kids everything they need.

Congratulations to our Girl’s and Boy’s Basketball Teams! They both had tremendous seasons, each competing for sectional championships. I know they didn’t end the way we wanted, but I couldn’t be any more proud of our kids and coaches. Both programs represent Central with class and live up to the Central Family beliefs of camaraderie, character, classroom and competition. Each team had some players that received special recognition… Kaydence Schroeder - Melanie Hilmes - Cody Dickshot - Zane Schrage - Chase Lewis - Mason Shubert

Lexis Wiegmann recently took a group of students to KC for a Drafting competition and sophomore, Garett Gebke placed 1st in Assembly Modeling!

The 5Essentials Survey was sent out to students, staff and parents. The survey is used as a measuring tool in terms of school culture and climate. For the survey to be accurately scored we needed 50% participation by our students and staff, and 20% by our parents. As of March 14th, we have exceeded their participation goal in all areas.

Congratulations to the following students for being selected into the CEO Class of 2024… - Makenna Budde, Cole Bruggemann, Cole Buschmann and Jonathan Husmann

School Improvement Day - March 9th - Power of Positivity!! What an awesome day and a great way to kick off the long weekend. The afternoon began with the most unbelievable lunch provided by Lori Ziegler, and then Gina Benhoff spoke briefly about the one cent sales tax. The rest of the afternoon teachers were making five positive phone calls and/or emails to parents, and then sending two messages to people that impacted their lives in some way. It was a great afternoon, but it didn’t end there…social media was flooded this weekend with Central positivity and Central Family.
