In the FY24 Budget, we included $30,000 for the purchase of a new driver's education vehicle to replace our 2012 Chevy Impala. Since both of the automotive dealerships in our district (K & J and Jansen) have been so supportive of our school district, Dr .Foutch reached out to them to see if we could purchase a vehicle for less than the $25,000 threshold (that would require a public bid). Jansen Chevrolet provided the following option - 2020 Ford Fusion with 18,000 miles for $24,000, and K & J offered a new 2023 Chevrolet Malibu with 150 miles for $23,995. Both dealerships offered $6000 for our trade in. Since K & J offered a much better deal (and the purchase price would be well below our budgeted amount), Dr. Foutch made the decision to move forward with the purchase from K & J.

The building committee met on Mon., Oct. 2nd to discuss our short term and long term building needs. Recommendations were made to work with our architect to get cost estimates on the following projects:
1.) Asbestos Abatement of the carpeted walls in rooms 2E, 3E, 4E, and 6E.
2.) Replacement of the windows in the Atrium area.

After further analysis from our architect, it was decided that a simple change to our current Health Life Safety amendment (for the replacement of our Security Camera System) would not suffice. The old amendment called for the replacement of 4 cameras and the updated amendment would call for the replacement of 40 cameras. Due to this much of an increase, he thought it would be best to create an entirely new amendment with the specific amount of cameras included within the project description. A motion to approve the “new” life safety amendments to replace 40 cameras was made by Amy, second by Kori. Roll call vote: Aye – Mary Lou Voss, Laura Jansen, Kori Voss, Tanya Kampwerth, Tim Richter, Amy Kruse, Jeff Kampwerth. Nay – None

A motion to approve an overnight trip for FFA on November 20th and 21st was made by Kori, second by Tanya. Roll call vote: Aye – Mary Lou Voss, Laura Jansen, Kori Voss, Tanya Kampwerth, Tim Richter, Amy Kruse, Jeff Kampwerth. Nay – None

A motion to approve an overnight trip for Lifesavers on November 17th-19th was made by Laura, second by Jeff. Roll call vote: Aye – Mary Lou Voss, Laura Jansen, Kori Voss, Tanya Kampwerth, Tim Richter, Amy Kruse, Jeff Kampwerth. Nay – Nonee

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:
Homecoming week was a huge success and I would like to first thank Karrie Kujawa for all her work behind the scenes to make this week memorable for all of our students! Secondly, Mr. Freeze would like to thank Kim Rakers and Donny Petterson for bringing the Central Homecoming Parade BACK! Nobody knew what to expect and it’s safe to say we were all blown away with the attendance. It was a great day for Central and the Central Community! This year’s Homecoming Queen was Grace Johnson and the King was Cole Buschmann.

On Sunday, October 1, the Central Marching Band performed at the Clinton County Showcase hosted by Wesclin High School. This was a great event and gave our students the opportunity to work with other bands from across the county.

Central Community High School is pleased to announce that Jordyn T. Robke has been named a Commended Student in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. Being recognized as a commended student means you are among the top 3% in the nation of students who entered the 2024 competition by taking the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Congratulations Jordyn! Central is proud of you and your accomplishments.

It’s that time of the year already for Parker Lawrence and Luke Voss from Jostens to be here. They were here on October 4th to speak with our sophomores about class rings and our seniors about graduation!

Our Early Release Friday incentive began a few weeks ago and we are averaging approximately 370 students each Friday that get to leave! The incentive is for students making a “B” or better in every class.

Friday, October 6th was our first of two Student Career Fairs that we will host this year. We had more than 30 local businesses take part in the career fair this fall. The event provides students with career explorations, networking opportunities and professional development.

Friday, October 6th was also a School Improvement Day for us. The three topics for the afternoon were McKinney Vento Homeless Training, AI (Artificial Intelligence) updates, and CrisisGo practice.

Central Golf teams both had seasons for the record books. The boys won the team regional for the first time since 1996, and the girls won the team regional for the first time in school history! Congratulations to all of our golfers and their coaches!

The board adjourned the meeting on a motion by Kori, second by Tanya at 7:19PM. Roll call vote: Aye –Laura Jansen, Mary Lou Voss, Kori Voss, Tanya Kampwerth, Tim Richter, Amy Kruse, Jeff Kampwerth. Nay – None
