PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:

After a long, yet extremely successful basketball season for both the girls and boys teams they're seasons both came to an end in the sectional finals. Yes, the seasons didn’t end as we had hoped, but success isn’t always measured in the win column. These young men and women learned more about life than they will ever know. The joys of victory and the agony of defeat help to mold young lives and prepare them for life after sports. A huge thanks to all of our coaches for modeling the way and holding our kids accountable.
Congratulations to the following players for being named to the All-State teams…Mason Shubert and Zane Schrage - Honorable Mention. Kaydence Schroeder - 2nd team, Taylor Trame - 3rd team, and Cece Toennies - Honorable Mention

The Central Family had a rough couple weeks at the end of February into the first week of March. During that time we had two students lose their fathers, one staff member lose her mother, and a student seriously injured in a car accident. Our faculty and staff have been absolutely amazing in their support of these individuals. Cougar Nation is definitely strong!

The Shadow a Cougar Program wrapped up March 7th with over 90 students attending. The program was a success, but we are already exploring ways to improve it for next year. One main thing we would like to change is the length. Right now it runs for almost a month and a half, which is a long time of constant interruption in our classes.

Freshmen Registration was held on Wednesday, March 6th from 3:00 - 7:00 PM. We had 133 families come out to register that evening and since then we’ve had five more calls, putting our total right now at 138. Before the start of next school year, we fully expect to register 15 - 20 more students. A huge thank you goes out to all of our volunteers that evening…Gina Benhoff, Mara Koerkenmeier, Lynn Garrett, Codi Swires, Angie Kohlbrecher, Rachel Faust, Tiffany Decker, Travis Gebke, Stacy Schroeder, Emily Johnson, and Karrie Kujawa. Last, but certainly not least are Wendy Jones and Trisha Lohman, they are the masterminds behind the entire night, which ran smoother than ever with the new set up.

FBLA collected money for the March of Dimes through its annual Pie in the Face contest. The winners, or maybe losers, depending how you look at it were Brian Short, Morgan Keck and Greg Meyer.
The IPA Student Recognition Breakfast was held on March 13, 2024. Central’s representative this year was senior Claire Bingman. Claire is an amazing young woman and the perfect example of what we strive for here at Central. Congratulations Claire!

The FFA alumni once again hosted the pork chop dinner fundraiser. A huge thanks to Kimberly Wolter for taking the lead on this event and rounding the troops to make it a success. In total the organization sold over 750 meals!

On March 8th all juniors took the state mandated ISA (Illinois Science Assessment). The state changed platforms this year, so it was a bit of a learning curve, but Wendy Jones was a quick learner and it went out without a hitch.

FFA members Celia Huelsmann, Cara Carrillon, Shelby Hagen, Addison Tebbe, and Chase Varel competed in the Illinois Meat Judging Series at Wenneman's Meat Co. in St. Libory. Central FFA had a victorious day and were named the Section 22 FFA Meat Judging Champions! Shelby Hagen not only was the 1st place individual in the section, but also placed 2nd place in the placing division and 10th place overall out of 40 members that attended! Other members who placed in the section were Addison Tebbe in 4th place, Celia Huelsmann in 6th place, and Cara Carrillon in 8th place. Congratulations and way to go Central FFA!

6 of Central's finest drafting students competed in the Regional Drafting Competition at KC.
