Construction on the main entrance at Central has been delayed until Monday. Feel free to use the main entrance to enter and exit school today and tomorrow. We do expect for the main entrance doors to be blocked starting on Monday of next week. If you need to enter or exit from the front of the building, please plan on using the front two side entrance doors. Again, that will start on Monday. If you park in the student parking lot, the main gym entrance will still be open and available to use. Just as a heads up though, we will also be doing construction on the main gym entrance later next week. When that project is set to begin, we will let everyone know what alternate entrances to use on the back of the building.

1st and 2nd hour HOSA students: Thank you for displaying a true act of kindness! Your ability to think of another during a difficult time helped bring the biggest smile to someone's face. Way to go!

Are you interested in a career in agriculture, diesel mechanics, automotive technician, body shop technician or the construction trades….carpentry, welding, electrical, or drafting? If so, Central is starting a summer internship program where we will pair you up with a local business to complete an internship between your junior and senior year. You will be actually working in the field that you are thinking about pursuing as a career. If you are a junior and would like to pursue a summer internship, there will be an informational meeting in the Media Center on Wednesday, March 10th at 1:00PM.

Any junior or senior who would like to meet with the following college representatives needs to sign up on the sheet in Miss Lohman's google classroom. Deadline to sign up in 1:00 the day before.
March 17th- Illinois College (1:30-zoom)
March 24th- Eastern Illinois University (1:30-zoom)

KC Admission representatives will be at Central on April 14th to register seniors for their classes for next year. Students who attended the KC pre-registration meeting in February can sign up in Miss Lohman's office. This is a first come first serve basis for sign up.

Jostens will be here on Thursday, March18th @ 1:00 PM in the commons to distribute Caps & Gowns to seniors and class rings. All orders will need to be paid in full through Josten's in order to pick them up on that day. The office will not be collecting money for these purchases. Any questions should be directed to Jostens at 654-1001.

Attention Seniors: The March Scholarship list has been posted in the Class of 2021 google classroom and is also on the school's website. Make sure you check out the new Kevin Meyer Leadership Award that will be presented for the first time this year.

ME Day list for the first semester has been posted on the bulletin board in both locker areas. Any student who has earned a ME day will be able to use their ME day during this semester only. The office will need a phone call from a parent for the absence to be considered a ME Day. ME days do not count against your attendance. To earn a ME Day students must meet the requirements of GPA, attendance & discipline.

Readers, don't forget about the Lincoln Book Award list in the library. Remember, if you read 4 or more books from the list by March 15, you can attend a pizza party in the library and vote for your favorite book. Simply find the Google form on the library's website and fill it out for every book you read. This list is a great place to choose a book if you are looking for recommendations!

The 2020 yearbooks are in. Please stop by the Superintendent’s office to pick them up.
If you are interested in playing Aviston Sr Legion baseball. Please send an email to Dennis Rakers at dr0514@att.com, or call / text Dennis at 618 799 9986.

Are you planning on attending college after high school and wanting to get some general education courses completed at a fraction of the cost at Kaskaskia College? Junior and senior students can take select courses through KC's Foundation After School program in which you will only be responsible for paying for the textbooks and lab fees. Tuition, and fees are waived. Students at all grade levels have access to the Jump Start program in which you can take a recommended college course at half the cost of tuition. Registration for KC's Spring semester starts on October 26th. Please see Miss Lohman or Mrs. Jones if you have any questions or would like registration paperwork.

Reminders to all students who need to attend a class remotely:
1) Students need to be on the Google Meet or Go Guardian video conference at the start of each class. If students join late, it is extremely difficult for teachers to take accurate attendance. Also, if students do not have an excuse for the tardy, then consequences will be issued similar to those for being late to in-person class.
2) When attending classes remotely, students must use their centralcougars.org Google account. If you login with another account then you will be asked to leave the meeting and rejoin with the correct account. Again, if this becomes a common occurrence for an individual student, then disciplinary action may be taken.
Juniors and Seniors - a few reminders for before school
We appreciate you waiting in your vehicles until 7:55; however, please make sure you are prepared to walk in the building and proceed straight to 1st hour. This might require you to pack your backpack the day before in preparation for 1st hour. If you do not enter the building until close to 8 am and still have to access your locker, you will be tardy to class.
