Nicole Weh, along with her teaching assistants, provided a memorable Thanksgiving dinner for their students and their families. The dinner was held at the Christian Church in Carlyle and the students all read prepared letters of thanks to the audience. It was a great event and they even invited Dr. Foutch and myself.

Individual student college signings...Emma Taylor (Millikin VB), Emma Ratermann (Greenville VB), Connor Becker and Blake Beckman (Wabash Valley Bass Fishing), Keira Veizer and Makenna Lake (KC Soccer)

Congratulations to Central's 26 Illinois State Scholars: Courtney Bassler, Sophia Bretz, Joseph Cirrincione, Olivia Clark, Cora Eversgerd, Nicole Hagen, Camryn Hall, Herbert Herrera, Melanie Hilmes, Haley Huelsmann, Rylee Jansen, Lauren Jeffries, Sophia Kennett, Sydney Klemish, John Koerkenmeier, Makenna Lake, Kierstan Lampe, Olivia Links, Shelby Peters, Ryan Schomaker, Emma Taylor, Henry Toennies, Brooke Trame, Sarah Waggoner, Grant Winkeler, and Xabin Zabaljaurequi. These seniors are in the top 10 percent in the state based on their unweighted GPA and their best SAT/ACT score at the end of their junior year. This year's 26 is a new school record as we are well over the 10% in the class due to outstanding standardized test scores.

The Service Club had a sock drive contest and thanks to the generosity of our students, 965 pairs of socks will be delivered to homeless shelters! The top advisories were Mr. Shubert's with 194 pairs and Mrs. Boruff's with 119 pairs.

Senior - Courtney Bassler is currently a 2023 Coca-Cola Scholar Semi-Finalist. Courtney is one of 1,557 students selected from a pool of 91,000 applicants from across the country to continue through the selection process based on her academic excellence, leadership, and service demonstrated in school and community activities. If she can become one of the top 150, she will receive a $20,000 college scholarship.

Senator Plummer’s 2022-2023 Youth Advisory Council - What is this?? It’s an opportunity for students to meet him and his Senate staff two times throughout the year, once in the fall and once in the spring. They hear presentations from great leaders in the community and also brainstorm and discuss issues that are important to today’s youth. The four students selected to attend this year's council along with Kurt Peters were Raylnn Sander, Lauren Wolter, Kyle Jones and Dylan Albert.

The School Improvement Team met on December 14th. The main topics discussed were the new exam exemption policy, ACT/SAT test prep workshops, January Teacher Inservice, and Freshman Information Night (Jan. 10).

A HUGE thanks goes out to Mrs. Boruff and Mrs. Benhoff for planning the annual job fair. On December 6th we had over 30 businesses present and several of our students have already received job offers. It’s a great partnership between the school and local businesses in an effort to provide quality employment for our students.
